Video blogging or simply called vlog is a form of blogging in which the medium used is video. It is a popular category in the video-sharing site Youtube which has gained a lot of internet traction over the decade.

 

Youtube now has 2 billion logged-in users visit each month and every day people watch over a billion hours of video and generate billions of views.

 

However, as popular as it is, Youtube’s search engine is still second to Google which now processes over 40,000 search queries every second on average, which translates to over 3.5 billion searches per day. This is the main platform for blogging websites.

 

So, one might say that both vlogging and blogging both have their own fair share of internet audience and it depends on which platform plays well to your strengths.

 

Vloggers can be daily, weekly, or occasional vloggers depending on how often they post or update their content. In terms of most viewed content, vloggers can be classified into these different types:

 

Beauty Vloggers

These vloggers tackle topics such as fashion, hair, and makeup tips. They also do tutorial videos on a skincare routine, how to do different types of make-up, and many more. An example is jeffreestar who currently has 18 million subscribers.

 

Gaming Vloggers

These vloggers often upload videos of them sharing gaming videos and strategies. Oftentimes, they record themselves playing games, and walking you through it and commenting. PewDiePie, with the highest youtube subscribers of 104 Million started with gaming videos. 

 

Lifestyle Vloggers

These vloggers often feature highlights and activities of their daily lives like their hobbies, funny anecdotes, collections, and anything under the sun. Famous actors and actresses and people who do travel videos have famous lifestyle vlogs.

 

Entertaining Vloggers

These vloggers often do internet challenges, pranks, question and answer segments, mukbang videos, and content for laughs.

 

Often times, vloggers do a little bit of every content or combine them.
