Two Worlds...Too Soon

I am in an interracial marriage.

They call it international marriage in Korea.

My husband who has lived most of his life in Seoul moved in my country  and started our own business.

When the honeymoon period was over, the reality of living in a foreign land became real to him. 

One day, I invited him to join some friends for dinner. 

 

"When are they coming?"

he asked having waited 15 minutes past our appointment.

He sure was famished. 

"Soon."

 

Soon turned out to be 30 minutes later.

When I finally met them, we all got caught in a conversation.

They were glad to meet my husband and we settled in a seafood restaurant nearby.

We were all hungry.

When we ordered our food, the waiter replied that it will be served "soon."

We were all perfectly fine with that. 

When food came after half an hour, my husband used his spoon and fork with awkwardness that we encouraged him to use his hands.

It was perfectly okey to do it when you are eating seafood.

Food was great.

Our happy reunion was over after 2 hours or so.

It was time to go home. 

 

While walking to the parking lot, I suddenly had this familiar urge which I know would send me to the nearest toilet. I didn't know seafood would give me this awful stomachache.

I have always felt comfortable at home so

I asked him to drive home as fast as we can.

While I was running awkwardly to the car, my husband suddenly

turned pale while groping for the keys in his pocket.

He searched inside his backpack, my bag, his shirt pocket...

 

" Why? Where did you put them? "

I asked in panic.

D..don't worry. I'll find them...

I'll find them Soon!
