Grandmamomma's Penny Talks

 

My grandma was a penny-pincher.

When we were young, we got to experience all her money-saving techniques during vacation.

It was dreadful at first be we got used to it after a week or so.

After all, grandma is a fierce but loving spirit.

She would cook us delicious meals and put us to bed with all her funny stories at night.

Every morning we were greeted with the smell of fried chickenand eggs....

not to mention her mouth watering baked sweet potatoes.

More than all the gastronomic affair that I had with her food, I would never forget her financial wisdom.

She didn't get any university degree but it was the school of life that educated her in a more meaningful way. 

 

Here are grandmamomma's penny-pinching rules:

 

1. Save when it's sunny, save when it's rainy, save whenever you can. Grandma had some money stashed in her pocket on the day she died.

2. Don't keep up with the Joneses. You can't bring all that stuff when you die!

3. Have fun without spending much. Grandma always cooked nice food and enjoyed conversations with us.

4. Pray for the Lord's provision. Don't be too arrogant to pray!

5. Be grateful and contented of what you have. Enjoy what's on the table. You can have more in the future

but be patient and work hard for it.

6. List, list, list. Make a list when you go to groceries.

7. Don't change something when it's not broken.

8. Learn the  home-making skills. Never rely on take outs. Learn to mend and clean.

9. Keep a small garden if you can. Home-grown vegetables are fresher.

10. Your happiness should not depend on how much you earn. Learn to give. You'll be amazed how happy you'll be when you give.
