Imagine riding the bus or a car along the road located on the edge of the mountains. As you go higher up, you can see the fog dancing on the cliffs and flowers blooming on the side of the road. Just as the fog starts to clear, you start to make out a city lying in the valley and along the mountainside lined with tall and colorful buildings-- that's Baguio City.

As unexpected as it may sound, a lively city of many malls, universities, business establishments and houses lie deep in the high mountains of Benguet, around 4-5 hours away from Manila. It is dubbed as the "City of Pines" because of the many pines that are perfect with its cold weather.

In the summer, many Filipinos travel to Baguio because while the rest of the Philippines suffer from the hot and humid weather, the said city maintains just the right cold temperature of 16-20 ° C while having a sunny sky. So, why do you need to experience Baguio City?

It's a city of parks, museums, culture and art

You will be taken by Baguio's humble yet artistic appeal. At the center of the city is Burnham Park lines with varieties of flowers with a majestic manmade lake. Baguio City is a natural haven for artists because of its lovely natural environment & the rich cultural heritage of the Cordillera Region that inspires creativity. One popular attraction for the arts is Tam-awan Village, an ethnic, living artists' colony set at the quiet fringes of the city. The city is home to a growing number of gallery cafes & exhibits that showcase the paintings and sculptures of both local & visiting Filipino artists.

They have the freshest vegetables and flowers

Benguet, the province surrounding Baguio, is where most of the vegetables and flowers in Manila and even in provinces all over the country come from. When you buy these products in Baguio, you will notice the apparent difference in freshness and price compared to other places.

There, you can find strawberry-everything

Baguio or Benguet is famous for its strawberries because it's one of the few places in the country where strawberries grow. You can experience strawberry picking in La Trinidad, while strawberry based products such as jam, taho (a dessert with syrup and soft tofu), ice cream, and many more are also very common.

The nightlife is bustling

It seems that Baguio doesn't sleep. They have this famous night market every day beside Burnham Park. In the day, it's a common road with traffic but at night, the long street is filled with carts and tables all filled with stuff you can buy. On both ends of the night market you can buy almost any streetfood / dishes you can think of from common Filipino dishes to famous international cuisine. In between is the assortment of thrift items or memorabilia perfect as souvenirs.

Enjoy the serenity of nature

Pines trees, tall trees, flowers, and mountainous views can be seen almost anywhere. Baguio is the perfect place to relax because of the cold air and the light rays of sunlight at the same time. You can just sit at any corner and admire the peacefulness of the beauty surrounding you.
