Lip Tint vs. Lipstick
Most girls have a go-to reliable lipstick stashed in their purse. A glamorous makeup look is never complete without the perfect lippy. Oftentimes, when one is not in a mood to do a complicated makeup ritual, shaping the eyebrows, a dash of face powder and a quick swipe of a vibrant lipstick does the trick.
Commercial lipsticks have been around for centuries which makes it an essential beauty product. On the other hand, over the years, the use of lip tints has become widely popular especially with the influence of Asian especially Korean women.
What's the difference between lipsticks and lip tints?
These cosmetic products are both designed to pigment the lips. Their main difference is mostly formulation and packaging.
Lipstick is a wax-based product. It usually comes in the form of a stick that twists up. Lipstick is made of wax that provides moisture, color protection, and shape, then the oil to make it smooth, and butter such as shea butter and vegetable butter which may contain vitamins. Lipsticks have a matte, satin, or gloss finish. They also come with the new liquid formula that tends to last for a longer number of hours.
Lip tints, on the other hand, are formulated with a gel or water base which is evaporated leaving only the pigment to stain or tint the lips. They have a thinner consistency which makes them very light and comfortable on the lips. It often only leaves a translucent stain and the color of the tint is affected by the natural color of the lips. Since lip tints often do not contain moisturizers, it is best to put lip balms beforehand.
Aside from the usual liquid lip tints, the peel lip tints are also very popular which acts as a sheet mask to the lips but once dried and peeled out, only bright natural color is left.
Moreover, lipsticks offer a wide variety both in color and finish. Since lip tints are often used to enhance natural tones, they are often available only in red, pink, and peach hues.
Using either lipsticks and lip tints are very handy in improving one's look. Oftentimes, they are used together with lip tints as based material for a lipstick which is good for times when lippies tend to be erased. It just depends on a user's preference or an overall goal look. If you're aiming for a natural every day look, then tints are perfect but for vibrant and vivid lips to show some attitude, lipsticks are always fail-safe.
