Basically, as its name suggests, a primer is a cosmetic product that you put as a base for foundation or face makeup. It creates a thin layer that separates the skin from your makeup products to make them last longer, safely cover your pores, reduce oiliness, and other uses. 

 

It is a product that prepares your skin to be a perfect canvass before applying a foundation or concealer. In a sense, it is like a moisturizer but instead of sinking to the skin, it's thinner and floats directly above. 

 

There is a common instance where a person's T-zone or the whole face is prone to oiliness. A primer absorbs some of the oil beneath the foundation allowing it to stay longer. It also has illusion effects like illuminating or blurring when a certain light hits it. 

 

The best way of applying primer is through lightly spreading it with hands. It is applied after accomplishing skincare routines such as moisturizing, and before applying makeup products. It is recommended that it be dried for a whole minute before adding products on top.
